Kendall County Nonprofit Day

Staci Almager, CEO of Hill Country Family Services, reads the proclamation the Kendall County Commissioners Court approved Monday morning, marking Aug. 17 as Kendall County Nonprofit Day. During discussions about the proclamation, it was announced that HCFS, the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce and Kendall County Giving Connections worked together to have local nonprofits recognized by both the county and the city of Boerne. Several representatives from the leading organizations and the numerous nonprofits lined the Kendall County Commissioners courtroom during the presentation. The city of Boerne will have a similar proclamation ceremony at 9 a.m. Friday at city hall.

BEC donates to food pantry

Student honors

Michael Valentine of Boerne has been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s winter 2022 Dean’s List. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 are named to the list.

Boerne ISD celebrates Ag Barn opening

Boerne Independent School District, along with the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday to officially open the district’s Ag Barn and Animal Science Center.

The story in the Sports section of last Friday’s Boerne Star regarding the Agua Swift Aquatics team contained an error. It stated the team is sponsored by the city of Boerne. The city of Boerne supports the team but does not officially sponsor it. Aqua Swift Aquatics rents pool space from the city of Boerne.
