January 12, 1941 – February 4, 2023

Janice Ann O’Brien, 82, went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 4, 2023. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on April 21, 2023 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in San Antonio.

Ms. O’Brien was born on January 12, 1941 in Buffalo, New York to Matthew and Madeline O’Brien. Kind and caring, Ms. O’Brien was loved and respected by all for her great integrity and character in every endeavor. Highly intelligent and serious, she still possessed a love of life and a special sense of humor. She loved to explore the Texas Hill Country with various friends and enjoyed new dining and shopping experiences at every

opportunity. She attended the University of Texas in Austin, where she majored in English and Social Psychology. In addition, she completed a course of study in Marketing and Public Relations at the University of Wisconsin. Her professional activities included membership in several Hospital Marketing and Public Relations Societies. She was an active member at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, and was involved in her community in many ways, including volunteer work with the Campfire Girls of America and the March of Dimes.

During her career with Baptist Memorial Hospital System, she was honored with numerous awards. As Vice President for Marketing and Public Relations, she was responsible for coordinating and integrating all aspects of the department throughout the whole system. In over forty years of service, she was recognized and promoted based on excellent service and an unrivaled knowledge of marketing and public relations. This was reflected in a great appreciation of the Baptist Memorial Hospital System in San Antonio and throughout the State of Texas. She was Vice President until her retirement in 2005.

She is survived by a host of loving friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Madeline O’Brien.

Janice’s friends would like to express their gratitude towards her caregivers at University Hospital and Ignite Rehab Center for their unfailing service and attention to her needs for the two months she was with them.

Instead of floral remembrances, her loved ones suggest that donations can be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in San Antonio to honor Janice’s memory.
