The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed South Texas Blood & Tissue – Boerne Donor Room into the Boerne community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. For more than 45 years, the nonprofit South Texas Blood & Tissue Center has focused on a critical purpose: to save and improve lives. Inspired by a group of physicians, STBTC was formed to provide blood to the South Texas region – ensuring a safe and adequate blood supply through proper testing, storage and distribution to hospitals. This essential service allows front-line workers to focus on the direct care of patients with confidence that this lifesaving resource will be there when it’s needed most. The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed Bracken Christian School into its Boerne business community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Bracken Christian School in Boerne is located at 215 Water St. and partners with Christian families through leadership and guidance of the Holy Spirit to provide an excellent education within the context of biblical worldview, equipping students to impact their culture for Christ. Bracken offers classes for children starting at 4 years old and in prekindergarten and goes up through 12th grade. SAN ANTONIO – Champion will be making its first appearance at the state basketball tournament after the Chargers won the Region IV-5A title last weekend.

Saturday’s 45-44 overtime victory over Somerset in Kingsville was twice as nice for the Boerne High boys basketball team.

The Champion girls soccer team rolled past Veterans Memorial Friday on the road, 8-0, and the win was probably very memorable for Champion head coach Kara Walters.

Both the Geneva School of Boerne girls soccer and girls basketball teams came up short in their bids for state championships.

Boerne High played the only girls soccer team that has defeated them in district action this year on Friday when the Lady Greyhounds visited Davenport.

The Chargers baseball team played five games in the Comal Classic Tournament last weekend and posted a 3-2 record to stand at 5-3 this year.
