A total of nine Champion baseball players made this year’s all-district list as voted upon by the 28-4A coaches.

At the recent Boerne Champion golf team awards ceremony in the school library, several individual awards were handed out to players.

The Boerne Champion tennis program recently held its annual awards ceremony in the school library where several team awards were handed out by head coach Joey Cantu. The ceremony covered both the fall team tennis season and the individual spring season, both of which were very successful for the Chargers.

Boerne ISD recently held its annual cross country camp where 50 young men and women attended to improve their running ability. 

As the Boerne Independent School District continues to review its safety and security procedures at each campus and facility in the wake of last month’s tragic school shooting in Uvalde, an agreement has been made with local law enforcement to provide a full-time School Resource Officer at every school beginning in August when the 2022-23 academic year begins.

More than 750 biking enthusiasts participated in the annual Tour de Boerne charity ride on Saturday. The cyclists took off from Don Strange Ranch north of Boerne promptly at 7 a.m. and headed north on Waring Welfare Road to travel one of three routes of various lengths through the Texas Hill Country. Depending on the course, riders traveled through Waring, Welfare, Luckenbach, Sisterdale and Comfort. Affiliated with the Knights of Columbus, Tour de Boerne is a nonprofit organization. Event beneficiaries this year are the Waring Volunteer Fire Department, Hill Country Boys & Girls Club, Blessings in a Backpack, Coats for Kids and Open Trail Ranch in Boerne. 

The city of Fair Oaks Ranch officially bumped up its tax exemption for senior residents and introduced a tax exemption for disabled residents. Additionally, a tax freeze will be placed on the value of disabled residents.

During its fifth bond discussion, the Boerne City Council now seems to favor a less expensive proposal focused on street and parks improvements.

State Sen. Roland Gutierrez, who represents Uvalde, has sued the Texas Department of Public Safety over records relating to the Uvalde school shooting that have been withheld.

Q: I worked hard for decades and retired three years ago. My wife and I planned to travel extensively – but with (first) the pandemic and then some related health concerns, we’ve set that idea aside. Now I’m having difficulty adjusting my expectations for retirement while struggling with discontentment. Can you offer any suggestions?
