The Boerne ISD Boys Basketball Camp took place recently at Champion High School. It’s been the largest camp of the summer so far with about 260 young men attending. The week-long camp was conducted by coaches and former players from both Champion and Boerne high schools.

The Boerne ISD Girls Basketball Camp took place recently at Champion High School. About 160 young ladies showed up to work on their basketball skills. The week-long camp was conducted by coaches and former players from both Champion and Boerne high schools.

Maximus Cavazos of Boerne Champion High School is playing in the fourth annual National High School Golf Association Invitational at the Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina, Monday through Wednesday, July 11-13.

The recent Fourth of July holiday offered numerous opportunities for Texans to enjoy the summer sun and water during the heart of boating season. Recent Boerne High graduate Regina Hernandez signed to play soccer with Club Necaxa Femenil in Aguacalientes, Mexico. The team plays in the Liga MX Femenil, which is the highest division of women’s soccer in Mexico. Hernandez will also take online classes at UTSA while she plays. 

Barry Halbert, a member at Tapatio Springs, aced the par-3, 103-yard third hole with a pitching wedge over Father’s Day weekend. The feat was witnessed by his wife Jenny and daughter Becca. Submitted photo

The annual Flag Run 5K race and 1 mile walk was held on July 4th in and around Boerne. More than 300 walkers and runners took part in the event that started and ended at Main Plaza. Half of the proceeds went to the Boerne Fire Department and the first-place finisher in each division received a watermelon.

The Champion softball team recently held its annual awards ceremony where several team awards were handed out.
