Eagles open volleyball postseason tourney

The Geneva volleyball team rolled in its district tournament last Thursday night in Boerne. 

Geneva hosted district foe Corpus Christi Incarnate Word, and just like they did in the regular season, the Eagles beat the Angels.

In their first meeting, Geneva won in four sets but on their home turf, the Eagles took the match in straight sets, 25-13, 26-24, 25-18.

Geneva improves to 22-15 overall and faced another Corpus Christi school, Incarnate Word Tuesday at home.

Karynn Garrow reached the 2,000-kill mark in her previous match and added 28 more to her totals in Thursday’s match but Garrow may not be the only Eagles player to reach a milestone this year.

Freshman Ella Grace Owens came up with 29 assists and is closing in on 1,000 for the year. Owens passed 900 and had 908 as of Thursday.

Ella Babic dropped in 5 aces, Garrow had 3 aces and Owens tallied 2 aces. Babic also finished with 10 kills and 10 digs, Emily Coultress tallied 12 digs, Garrow came up with 16 digs and Owens 8 digs.  

Cammy Curtis chipped in with 4 assists, 2 kills and 2 digs, while Abby Bower added 2 assists and 2 digs to the win.
