BHS cross country teams advance to regionals

Boerne High advanced both of its varsity cross country teams to regionals after both Greyhound squads finished third at this year’s district meet held last week in Fredericksburg.

Only the top three teams from each district advance and the Greyhounds made it. Regionals for 4A schools will be Monday, Oct. 24, in Corpus Christi.

 

Varsity Girls

Boerne High tallied 79 points for third behind Fredericksburg (20) and Navarro (65). Bandera took fourth (99), Canyon Lake came in fifth (116), Wimberley was sixth (159) and Davenport placed seventh (170).

Eleanor Davis paced the Lady Hounds after she was ninth with a time of 12:22 in the two-mile race.

Madison Morris finished 10th in 12:24, Mary Marino came in 12th in 12:27, Endie Boddie posted a time of 12:59 for 21st, Mahaley Merkens ran a 13:13 for 27th, Kelsey Farar completed the course in a time of 13:50 for 34th and Sophia Karageorge was one spot back in 35th place with a 13:55.

 

Varsity Boys

The BHS boys came in third with 68 points, behind Davenport (58) and Bandera (63). Fredericksburg finished fourth (103), Canyon Lake was fifth (109), Navarro placed sixth (119), followed by Wimberley (172).

Tayson Farar had Boerne’s highest finish after he was seventh with a time of 17:35, Caleb Benchoff placed 10th in 17:53, Carsten Bain was one spot back in 11th, Barrett Crofut recorded a time of 18:13 for 15th, Chase Balderas posted an 18:48 for 25th, Cole Palmer completed the course in 19:06 for 30th and Parker Powell rounded out the team after he was 32nd in a time of 19:13.

 

JV

The Boerne boys won the JV race with 28 points and were paced by Jackson Temple who took second overall, while the BHS girls were second with 45 points but had the top finisher after Molly Briskey took first place in the race.
