Champion whips Wagner, moves closer to playoff spot

Boerne Champion’s win over Wagner last Friday at Charger Gym inched the team closer to a playoff spot.

The Lady Chargers beat the Thunderbirds in straight sets on Senior Night, 25-17, 25-8, 25-23, and improved to 29-9 overall and 7-4 in district.

Champion was at Pieper on Tuesday and a win there should secure a playoff berth for the Lady Chargers.

For Champion, Erin Fallon dropped in 3 aces, Izzy Maszak had 2 aces, while Gabbie Rossello and Cameryn Seaux both finished with 1 ace each.

Ella Coleman and Kelsey Rogers tied for team-high honors in kills with 10 each, Raylynn Pitts added 8 kills, Skye Conroy had 4 kills, Ashleigh Williams chipped in with 2 kills, while Lili Dunn, Emmy Koke and Fallon had 1 kill.

Rogers and Koke recorded 3 blocks apiece, Ashley Williams added 2 blocks, while Skye Conroy and Coleman both came up with 1 block.

Maszak tallied 17 assists and 10 digs, Fallon added 10 assists and 13 digs, Sadie Hoyt had 12 digs, Rossello added 6 assists and 15 digs, Seaux recorded 7 digs, Pitts had 6 digs, Dunn 4, while Coleman and Conroy both added 3 digs.
