Increased safety and security
Boerne ISD, along with the Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch police departments and the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, recently agreed to assign each BISD campus with a designated School Resource Officer beginning in the 2022-23 academic year. The collaboration is in an effort to strengthen safety and security measures at all Boerne ISD facilities. The announcement was made during the June board of trustees meeting and recognition was given to the three local law enforcement agencies at that time. Pictured are, from left, BISD Trustee Donna Sharp, Superintendent Tom Price, Fair Oaks Ranch Mayor Greg Maxton, SRO Doug Meuth, Boerne City Councilmember Bryce Boddie, FOR Police Officer John Ojeda, Trustee Rich Sena, FOR Police Chief Tim Moring, Boerne Police Chief Steve Perez, Trustee Carlin Friar, KCSO Lt. Kevin Klaerner, Trustee Joe Tidwell, KCSO Deputy Marshall Hefley, KCSO Deputy Gabriel Cardenas, Trustee Garrett Wilson, Trustee Jessica Davila, BISD Safety and Security Director Hector Hernandez and Trustee Maritza Gonzalez-Cooper. The story on the increased safety and security measure appeared in the June 28 Boerne Star. Submitted photo 07/01/2022 12:00 AM
Take some steps toward having financial freedom
Take some steps toward having financial freedom
Next week, we observe Independence Day, an opportunity to celebrate all the liberties we enjoy in this country. Of course, there are different types of freedoms – such as financial freedom, which can open the doors to many other opportunities. 07/01/2022 12:00 AM

Let’s face it, some of the news from the past few weeks has been pretty crummy, including the Uvalde school shooting, the Jan. 6 hearings and the GOP platform in general. Many of us still need time to process our feelings. 07/01/2022 12:00 AM

Ways to avoid retirement struggles
Ways to avoid retirement struggles
Q: I worked hard for decades and retired three years ago. My wife and I planned to travel extensively – but with (first) the pandemic and then some related health concerns, we’ve set that idea aside. Now I’m having difficulty adjusting my expectations for retirement while struggling with discontentment. Can you offer any suggestions? 06/28/2022 12:00 AM
