Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries received a charitable grant of $25,000 from the Valero Benefit for Children this year, thanks to the Valero Texas Open golf tournament and associated events.

“ Right now, Valero is making a difference in our community, and we’re grateful to be able to provide year- round community support for 150 at-risk youth. With this charitable grant, we provide mentors, group mentoring and summer enrichment opportunities,” said Roger Gonzales, director of mentoring ministries at Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries.

Over the years Stand By Me has served hundreds of children through various programs. The Stand By Me Academy at HCDBM is a seven-week program designed to help students excel beyond the confines of their current grade level, according to the organization’s website.

With Valero’s continued support, our team serves through intentional case management, ongoing community partnerships for enrichment opportunities and our faithful mentors. The children we serve are equipped and prepared to live a life beyond poverty.

Due to the incredible generosity of Valero’s business partners, donors and sponsors, more than $22 million in net proceeds from the Valero Texas Open will be distributed to agencies across the United States, supporting the work of hundreds of charity partners like Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries. Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries is working to break the cycle of poverty with food, community resources, training and the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ.
