Fair Oaks Ranch officials are continuing the process to implement a new tax exemption for disabled and senior residents in the city – an ordinance that hasn’t been addressed since the 1980s – and opinions among council and resident remain split.

An accident Thursday evening left 49-year-old Boerne resident David John Belter dead after reports stated a woman drove into oncoming traffic on Highway 46 and struck Belter’s vehicle head-on.

Aid the Silent played host to its annual 5-kilometer walk and run Saturday that led participants in and around Boerne. A record number of people – more than 900 – participated in the event that raises funds to help deaf and hard-of-hearing children and teens receive equal access to opportunity. The nonprofit does so by providing financial assistance to enhance communication methods, gain access to opportunities and educational resources and improve overall health, both mental and physical to those in need, that leads to individual growth socially, educationally and spiritually. Finally, Boerne received more than an inch of rain in a month’s time. However, May’s moisture amount remained well below average and put the area even further behind the norm as far as precipitation.
