I-10 road work to alter traffic
I-10 road work to alter traffic

As part of the ongoing Interstate 10 frontage road work, the Texas Department of Transportation announced on Thursday that the contractor is progressing into the last stage of construction for the new Highway 87 bridge. That, in turn, necessitates transitioning the I-10 mainlane traffic from the current location to the segment that is currently a work area closed to traffic.

The announcement was made during the June board of trustees meeting and recognition was given to the three local law enforcement agencies at that time. Take some steps toward having financial freedom
Take some steps toward having financial freedom

Next week, we observe Independence Day, an opportunity to celebrate all the liberties we enjoy in this country. Of course, there are different types of freedoms – such as financial freedom, which can open the doors to many other opportunities.

We are resolute in our views

Let’s face it, some of the news from the past few weeks has been pretty crummy, including the Uvalde school shooting, the Jan. 6 hearings and the GOP platform in general. Many of us still need time to process our feelings.

Ways to avoid retirement struggles
Ways to avoid retirement struggles

Q: I worked hard for decades and retired three years ago. My wife and I planned to travel extensively – but with (first) the pandemic and then some related health concerns, we’ve set that idea aside. Now I’m having difficulty adjusting my expectations for retirement while struggling with discontentment. Can you offer any suggestions?
