Michael Valentine of Boerne has been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s winter 2022 Dean’s List. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 are named to the list.

The story in the Sports section of last Friday’s Boerne Star regarding the Agua Swift Aquatics team contained an error. It stated the team is sponsored by the city of Boerne. The city of Boerne supports the team but does not officially sponsor it. Aqua Swift Aquatics rents pool space from the city of Boerne.

Q: I’ve heard some things about foster care and adoption, and I’m curious – but hesitant because our family is already so busy. Somebody told me that your organization strongly supports foster adoption. Why do you think we should get involved?

Eight members of Boy Scout Troop 102, chartered by Boerne’s First United Methodist Church, recently returned from BSA Seabase located at Islamorada in the Florida Keys. The Scouts sailed more than 100 nautical miles on a 43-foot sailboat for six days while stopping to snorkel at coral reefs and shipwrecks. The Scouts were able to observe many species of fish, sharks, rays, sea turtles and more. They learned to steer and operate the sails on the ship and were able to fish in allowed areas. Come on out to Music in the Park at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, for a free concert featuring the Anthony Garcia Band. The concert takes place in Comfort Park at the gazebo.
