On Saturday, March 18, at 10:00am in the community room of the Patrick Heath Public Library, a retrospective will be hosted filled with vintage images and memories called, Saluting the Peacock Military Academy, (PMA).

I think we can all agree that quarantine during the pandemic was nobody’s favorite time. Although we have seen the effects on our community, some may overlook how the situation affected students.

I moved to Texas in 2005 when assigned to Lackland Air Force Base as a trauma nurse at Wilford Hall Medical Center (when it was still an active trauma center). I loved Texas so much that I made it my home.

When you think of preparing students for the future in K-12 education, the first thing that may cross your mind is teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic. Of course that has and will always continue to be a cornerstone of educating our children. However, in Boerne ISD we also prepare students for the workforce through our Career and Technical Education programs.

Local agency honors first responders

Gov. Greg Abbott, in a State of the State address last Thursday, outlined his seven top priorities for the ongoing legislative session before an invitation-only audience at a manufacturing facility in San Marcos, the Austin American-Statesman reported. Those priorities include $4 billion for border security, property tax relief and more school choice for parents, which he called “education freedom.” He avoided use of the word “vouchers.’

FAIR OAKS RANCH– The city held its annual State of the City event at the Fair Oaks Ranch Golf and Country Club. Speaking in front of nearly 150 attendees, members of the city council, as well as livestreaming to residents of Fair Oaks Ranch. Mayor Maxton declared the state of Fair Oaks Ranch is, “Very good!”
