Aiding the silent

Aid the Silent played host to its annual 5-kilometer walk and run Saturday that led participants in and around Boerne. A record number of people – more than 900 – participated in the event that raises funds to help deaf and hard-of-hearing children and teens receive equal access to opportunity. The nonprofit does so by providing financial assistance to enhance communication methods, gain access to opportunities and educational resources and improve overall health, both mental and physical to those in need, that leads to individual growth socially, educationally and spiritually. Founder, CEO and Boerne native Emma Faye Rudkin, above, who is deaf herself, welcomed participants and guests on Saturday morning at Main Plaza and used sign language to do so.
