The annual Flag Run 5K race and 1 mile walk was held on July 4th in and around Boerne. More than 300 walkers and runners took part in the event that started and ended at Main Plaza. Half of the proceeds went to the Boerne Fire Department and the first-place finisher in each division received a watermelon.

The Champion softball team recently held its annual awards ceremony where several team awards were handed out.

One day in the late 1980s, Boerne resident Don Ruggles started running and he hasn’t stopped since, although the 78-year-old admits he’s scaling back – but just a tad.

Track Team MVPs

Both Boerne High and Boerne Champion placed in the top 10 in their respective divisions in this year’s UIL Lone Star Cup standings.

While no individual team awards were handed out at the recent Boerne High softball team awards ceremony, several of the girls were recognized for their work in the classroom and on the field.

Comfort High recently held its annual summer volleyball camp that was attended by close to 30 young ladies who showed up to improve their volleyball skills. 

The Tapatio Springs Men’s Golf Association recently held its Tapatio Cup event over two days and 54 players took part. The scoring was nine holes Schamble and nine holes Best Ball on both days. The Green team and the Gold team squared off and the Gold team won, 45-37. 

There were no major changes that came out of the recent UIL Standing Committee on Athletics meeting held in June.

A total of nine Champion baseball players made this year’s all-district list as voted upon by the 28-4A coaches.

At the recent Boerne Champion golf team awards ceremony in the school library, several individual awards were handed out to players.
