The Boerne Independent School District is proud to announce that Boerne High School Assistant Principal Lauren Sanders has been selected as the Region V Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals.

The Heard Family recently worked with the Cibolo to acquire property off Old San Antonio Road in Boerne. If you drive down the road, you will see a green sign with the Cibolo logo and will know this precious watershed land is protected in perpetuity thanks to the Cibolo and the Heard Family.

In case you tuned in today expecting to read an article from Miss Constance, our children’s librarian… she has graciously given this spot to me so we can promote the Boerne Book & Arts Festival. And in the spirit of children’s literature, today I’ll talk about the great lineup we have for kids and families at this year’s book festival.

Boerne’s brewing and restaurant scene keeps growing, and the latest addition coming in spring 2023 is keeping the ball rolling on both fronts. The planned 28 Songs Brewhouse + Kitchen will be the first brewery on North Main Street and owners vow to have something for everyone’s tastes. The plan is to have 28 taps with a mix of housemade beers and guest taps, but the goal is to eventually have a wide variety of 28 of their own beers on, said Don Kretz, a managing partner in the enterprise and a homebrewer for 25 years.

S.T.A.G.E., Inc. presents Plaza Suite, a comedy by Neil Simon directed by Lou Garza Oct. 6 through Oct. 23. Opening night, Oct. 6, will serve as a fundraiser for Bulverde/Spring Branch Pregnancy Center.

Boerne residents won’t have to drive into San Antonio to get their Bakery Lorraine fix anymore – the BL team will be opening their fifth location here in October, and they are adding something new to the mix.

The City of Boerne’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2023 was unanimously approved by City Council during first reading at the Sept. 13 council meeting. The final vote on the proposed budget will take place at the Sept. 27 council meeting.

The Boerne Independent School District has announced the next discussion topic in the new Parent Education Speaker Series. The event, titled Cyber Danger, will take place 6-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at Champion High School and will focus on the dangers of the online community that students face. All Boerne ISD parents, students and community members are invited to attend.
