Boy Scout Troop 102, sponsored by First United Methodist Church, just returned from summer camp at Camp Constantin located on Possum Kingdom Lake, west of Mineral Wells. Some 700 Scouts from all over Texas were in attendance for the week-long camp, including 27 Scouts and nine adults from Boerne’s Troop 102. A 48-year-old Bulverde resident, Kristopher Burkholder, was sentenced to two years of probation and a $1,500 fine for possession of methamphetamine, which he continues to claim belonged to someone else.

The Boerne Soccer Club is conducting youth camps at City Park over the summer for children ages 5 and older. The camps are described as an opportunity to have fun, learn new skills, make friends and “have an awesome week of soccer.” 

As Kendall County and Boerne officials continue the process of developing their five-year Hazard Mitigation plan, the company drafting the new plan has begun identifying mitigation measures to prevent or manage natural hazards and identified four manmade hazards.

The nearly 1.5 inches of rain Boerne received last week was just what the doctor ordered as the precipitation helped recharge area aquifers after a dreadfully dry first four weeks of June.

As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to fall in some areas, especially cases leading to hospitalization, the Kendall County Commissioners Court has opted to cease its bi-monthly update during its meetings, opting to receive updates as necessary.

Three people were arrested last week by federal authorities in connection with a human smuggling incident that left 53 migrants dead. The migrants were discovered inside a tractor-trailer on San Antonio’s Southwest Side, according to the San Antonio Express-News. The victims were from Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras.

The 451st District Court was in full swing Thursday morning as Fourth Administrative Judicial Region Judge Sid Harle ran through the felony docket, overseeing plea deals and issuing warrants for those who failed to make their court date.
