Scouting adventure

Eight members of Boy Scout Troop 102, chartered by Boerne’s First United Methodist Church, recently returned from BSA Seabase located at Islamorada in the Florida Keys. The Scouts sailed more than 100 nautical miles on a 43-foot sailboat for six days while stopping to snorkel at coral reefs and shipwrecks. The Scouts were able to observe many species of fish, sharks, rays, sea turtles and more. They learned to steer and operate the sails on the ship and were able to fish in allowed areas. Pictured are, from left, front row: Carter Carroll, Tim Burford, Cooper Kirk and Joel Gage. Back row: Jeff Carroll, Doug Burford, David Kirk and Jim Gage. Submitted photo
