The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed Bracken Christian School into its Boerne business community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Bracken Christian School in Boerne is located at 215 Water St. and partners with Christian families through leadership and guidance of the Holy Spirit to provide an excellent education within the context of biblical worldview, equipping students to impact their culture for Christ. Bracken offers classes for children starting at 4 years old and in prekindergarten and goes up through 12th grade. The public is invited to a service of worship and installation at St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 208 W. Bandera Road in Boerne, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20. The Rev. Ann Marie Quigley-Swanson will be installed as pastor/ head of staff at St. Mark.

My column that appeared in this space a couple of weeks was, at least in my opinion, kind of deep. In it, I talked about being in or close to the golden years – the late fall or early winter of life as I called it – and how quickly time passes.

As we approach the March 1 primary and mid-term elections, this column will discuss the broad principles of what the Republican Party stands for.

Empty Bowls Hill Country is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, at Kronkosky Place, 17 Old San Antonio Road in Boerne. The soups that go with the purchase of a bowl will be packed in “to go” containers.

Mail-in ballot applications for the March 1 primary are being rejected by almost 40 percent – largely because of a missing ID number, which is now required after a new voting bill passed the legislature last year.

Q: My wife and I often feel overwhelmed by “life stuff.” I think we spend so much time and energy in our roles as Mom and Dad that we neglect our own relationship. Is it just a case of recognizing that our needs as a couple have to be put on hold until our kids are older and less demanding?

The Cibolo Center for Conservation recently recognized Laura Haning, the director of the City’s Planning and Community Development Department, for her leadership during the creation of the Unified Development Code.

The Geneva School of Boerne recently announced it has hired Melissa McKenzie as its new development director. She joined the school’s advancement team on February 1.

The Boerne High School Speech and Debate Team won the 2022 District 28 4-A championship at the end of January. Clare Stauber and Connor MacDonald went a perfect 5-0 during the tournament to qualify for the UIL state meet at the University of Texas at Austin in March. Submitted photo
