As the days get longer and the flowers bloom, we know summer is just around the corner. Summer in Boerne is synonymous with the Moondance Outdoor Concert Series at the Cibolo Nature Center.
From April through September, on the Saturday closest to the full moon, the Cibolo brings the community together to dance under the stars and listen to live music in a beautiful outdoor setting. Bring your lawn chairs, coolers and a picnic to the Oak Motte and get ready for a lovely summer.
The first Moondance is Saturday, April 23, and features the Almost Patsy Cline Band, a favorite from previous Moondances that is sure to play some of your favorite tunes.
May’s Moondance, on the 14th, features Rutherford, located in the Texas Hill Country, a band started by two brothers, Burrel Rutherford and Ross Rutherford. This band is new to the oak matte stage, and we cannot wait for you to jam out to its unique country sound under the moonlit stars.
We are bringing back another fan favorite, The Lost Mule Band, in June. If you’ve never had the pleasure of hearing this great band, you are in for a treat! It brings the vibes and the laughs! The Lost Mule Band is an eclectic bunch of attorneys, accountants, business owners, mortgage underwriters, auctioneers and sound editors who all decided to jam out together, and boy, aren’t we glad they did! They grace the stage on June 18.
In the heat of July, we’ve got a cool, fan-favorite, Britt Ballenger, back with his crew. He is another musician loved by the locals and plays all around town when he’s not busy playing coach. You can come by and see his band on July 16.
We are so excited to present you with a more diverse lineup of musicians, and one of those is Ruben V. He came highly recommended by Boerne Radio, a new sponsor. Ruben V’s sound is classic blues with a band that includes a drummer and percussionist, a bass player in the rhythm section and a sax player to trade solos with Ruben on guitar. Give Ruben V a proper Moondance welcome on August 13.
And finally, we will end the season with another new band, the Carbonlily Trio. It has played around the area before, but never has met a crowd like ours. The trio’s sound combines soft rock, neo-soul and early Jazz. We are delighted to have it join our concert series and hope you can see it on September 10.
The Moondance Outdoor Concert Series would not be possible without the generous support of Frost Bank, The Boerne Star and The Brandon Fund. This time-honored tradition memorialized Brandon Gallagher-Manning, who died tragically in a vehicle accident on Interstate 10 in 2001. Since then, his love of music and camaraderie has been carried on at the Cibolo Nature Center, where we join every year to support and enjoy local musicians.
We will have food trucks on site, but you are welcome to bring picnics and coolers. Admission to the series is $15 for non-members, $10 for members and $5 for students. Children are free. Season passes are also available for purchase at www.cibolo.org.
