The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed Bracken Christian School into its Boerne business community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary School played host to its annual Cowboy Breakfast on Saturday morning. The city of Fair Oaks Ranch received confirmation on Wednesday from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and from representatives of Elm Creek Environmental and Bobcat Trucking Inc. that the company officially has withdrawn its application for an air quality standard permit.

Three Republican candidates are vying for the Kendall County judge position being left vacant by Darrel Lux after eight years in the role.

Three candidates have thrown their name in the hat for the Republican nomination for Kendall County Precinct 2 commissioner.

Next year, a new individual will serve Kendall County as a commissioner in the fourth precinct – the precinct generally located in the north portions of the county.

The public is invited to a service of worship and installation at St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 208 W. Bandera Road in Boerne, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20. The Rev. Ann Marie Quigley-Swanson will be installed as pastor/ head of staff at St. Mark.

My column that appeared in this space a couple of weeks was, at least in my opinion, kind of deep. In it, I talked about being in or close to the golden years – the late fall or early winter of life as I called it – and how quickly time passes.

The Texas Association of Counties describes a justice of the peace as someone who presides over the justice court in cases involving misdemeanors, including hearing traffic and other Class C misdemeanor cases punishable by fine only, hearing civil cases with up to $20,000 in controversy, hearing landlord and tenant disputes, hearing truancy cases, performing magistrate duties and conducting inquests.
