The Kendall County Sheriff’s Citizens Academy ended earlier this month with a graduation dinner. The academy introduces individuals to the KCSO and offers insight on how it conducts business and why. The purpose of the academy is to enhance, through education and hands-on participation, the positive relationship between the office and the community. It is designed to give participants a better understanding of the mission and operations of its agencies to gain an appreciation of the current challenges facing law enforcement. Topics covered included patrol procedures, criminal investigation, jail operations, polygraph examinations, Justice of the Peace duties, district attorney operations, animal control, narcotics and a K9 demonstration, civilian response to an active shooter and scenario-based training.
