As Boerne, Kendall County and the Hill Country grow, so grows the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce.

A fire ignited in Comfort during the very early hours Sunday that took down Fati’s Café and roughly 10 units at Comfort Hatchery Apartments on Business Highway 87.

With smaller wildfires claiming more and more acreage around Kendall County and larger-scale fires encroaching on the county line, Kendall County Judge Darrell Lux is looking to Gov. Greg Abbott for approval to issue a disaster declaration in the county.

Governor Greg Abbott recently reappointed Boerne’s Emma Faye Rudkin as well as Kori Allen, Evelyn Cano, Richard Martinez and Joseph Muñiz to the Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities for terms set to expire on February 1, 2024. Additionally, the governor appointed Benjamin Willis to the committee and named Martinez as chair.

The Texas Department of Transportation wants motorists to be aware of dangerous conditions in road construction zones after crashes in those zones killed 244 people last year.
