We’re just around the corner from one of my favorite things to attend and publish in The Boerne Star, and being as blessed as I am I get to do it twice on back-toback nights.

In a society supposedly governed as a representative democracy, perhaps the most fundamental right held by its citizens is the right to vote.

Beware. It’s here again.

Freedom of speech and information is the single most important aspect of a well-functioning democracy.

It’s always good to know our readers are paying attention … and I thank you for doing so.

Saturday is your final chance to vote in the general and special Eeection for Boerne ISD candidates, BISD school board Place 4 and two Texas constitutional amendments. There are eight voting locations in Kendall County, plus one at Van Raub Elementary only for Bexar and Comal County residents of BISD. For full details, visit the Kendall County Elections website. Every once in a while, you come across someone who touches your heart in one way or another.

Last week, a federal judge halted that stupid airline mask policy. She finally ended the charade. But, wait. Within two days, a federal bureaucracy decided to appeal her ruling.

Boerne has a superior water system that often is taken for granted. Our water utility has three sources of water that take care of our customers: Boerne Lake, Canyon Lake and underground wells. Over the years, that mix has changed, and more water comes from Canyon Lake than anywhere else.

I enjoy making lists.

Not everyone realizes that there are two separate elections in May. There’s the runoff for Congress and other partisan offices on May 24 and the less well-known Constitutional Amendment election on May 7. There are two propositions on the May 7 ballot; both are related to property taxes.

To this day, it’s still one of the most vivid dreams I can remember having.
