Champion swim relay earns All-America status

Boerne High recently held their annual end-of-season baseball awards ceremony at the Dog & Pony Grille where a couple of team awards were handed out.

Boerne Champion’s Elizabeth Leachman turned in a time of 9:57 at the Nike Nationals, the third fastest two-mile time from a Texas high school girl runner this year.

This week’s recent Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star Basketball Game pitted a Greyhound coach against a Greyhound player. Boerne High girls coach Amy Ruede coached the Red All-Stars, while incoming Boerne senior Averi Aaron played with the Blue All-Stars. Aaron, a Louisiana Tech commit, turned in quite a performance and was named the game’s MVP. 

A couple of Boerne ISD baseball players, and a former coach, will take part in the High-Plains Shootout to be held July 17-19 in Enid, Oklahoma.

Bill Merrell’s last season coaching after 44 years resulted in nine Boerne High baseball players being recognized as all-district players in 27-4A.

o e n d . l Champion’s best baseball season in school history ended with 14 players being named to the 26-5A All-District team.

The Tapatio Springs Men’s Golf association presented a check for $1,775 to the Boerne Police Department with money raised from their January “Salute to Veterans and First Responders” golf tournament.

About 140 young men and women attended this year’s Boerne ISD Soccer Camp held at Champion High School.

New hunting opportunities and scenery are available to hunters this fall through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) drawn hunt permits program. The program, which issues permits for drawn hunts on both public and private lands throughout Texas, is now accepting applications for a shot at almost 10,000 permits in more than 60 high quality hunt categories.

Needing 32 points to secure the 2013 Hill Country Senior Interclub Championship, Tapatio Springs scored 36.5 points in a hard-fought contest with San Antonio TPC in the final match of the season to secure the title.
