Geneva volleyball team defeated in state championship match
The Geneva volleyball team lines up to claim their silver medals after the Eagles finished second in the state. Lubbock Christian won the title with a sweep over Geneva.

Lubbock Christian School defeated Geneva School of Boerne Saturday in Waco at the TAPPS 4A state championship volleyball match. 

The Eagles of Lubbock Christian won in straight sets, 25-20, 25-18, 26-24, to win this year's state title, while the Eagles of Geneva finished the year at 19-8 overall and as state silver medalist.

LCS turned in a dominate performance and never trailed in the first set. In the second set, LCS was trailing 16-18, but went on a 9-0 run to end it and take a 2-0 match lead.

Saturday's third set was tight and LCS held a 20-17 lead but Geneva tied it at 20-20 and 22-22. A 2-0 spurt put the Lubbock school up 24-22, but Geneva rallied to tie it once again at 24-all. From there, the Eagles of Lubbock Christian posted the final two points to complete the sweep and claim this year's state title.
