It’s been a rough season for the Comfort High football team as they faced one tough opponent after another.
Their challenging schedule continues this week as they visit district-leading Blanco to close out the regular season.
Comfort enters Friday’s contest at Panthers Stadium at 2-6 overall and 0-3 in district. Blanco is 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the league.
The Bobcats are coming off a 62-0 loss last week at home to Lexington, a team that Blanco beat the previous week, 38-28.
Comfort is out of the playoff mix and needed a win last week against stateranked Lexington just to have a chance. They would have also probably needed a win this week at Blanco to help their cause, but last Friday’s defeat shut the door on their playoff chances.
Comfort is in a five-team district and since they only play four district games, sometimes one win will get a team into the playoffs, which is why the Bobcats needed a victory last week.
Comfort’s two wins this year both came in non-district against Ingram Tom Moore (34-29) and against Johnson City (21-14).
After those two wins, the Bobcats were 2-1 at one point in the season but have dropped five straight entering Friday’s contest.
