Lady Chargers kick Mules for their first postseason win in program history
The water polo teams from Boerne Champion opened their 2024 playoffs Thursday night with a sweep in boys and girls action.
The Lady Chargers made a little history with their first postseason victory Thursday against Alamo Heights.
Champion doubled up the Lady Mules, 22-11, and improved to 19-6 overall.
Ana Metz paced the team with 9 goals, while Cora Skoog had 4 goals. Cayden VanDyne came up with 5 assists and 13 saves as the keeper.
Breanna Hempton tallied 5 steals and Bennett Rice had 4 stealsd.
Champion plays the winner of the New Braunfels Canyon and Clark match up.
On the boys side, Champion defeated the Johnson Jaguars, 21-15, and bumped its record to 20-4 overall.
Bexon Harris tallied 9 goals and Will Harrison added 5 goals, while Will Harrison also finished with 5 assists and 4 steals.
The Chargers play the winner of the Churchill and Health Careers match up.
Champion is two-time state finalist and earned silver medals in both seasons.
Chargers coach Scott Slay said nothing was set up as far as the next round but was hoping to have that settled by this weekend.
Slay said it’ll be early next week and was hoping for Tuesday.
