BOERNE — Three Geneva School of Boerne juniors excelled on the Classic Learning Test (CLT) tenth grade exam, taken in February of the sophomore year.
Each year, Geneva students in grades 3-10 take the CLT, a suite of standardized tests designed to reconnect knowledge and virtue by utilizing true, good and beautiful source material to provide meaningful assessments.
The three — Brady Chandler, son of Stephanie and Charles Chandler; Samuel Crews, son of Lindsey and Jonathan Crews; and Jonathan Taylor, son of Amy and Craig Taylor — were all named 2024 Regional Scholars for the Southwest Region. Students earning this recognition scored in the top 5% of all test takers in their region.
Crews and Taylor were also named CLT10 National Award recipients for earning one of the top 50 scores for all high school sophomores across the United States. National Award recipients are awarded a $2,500 scholarship at any CLT Partner College and are eligible to compete for additional scholarship dollars.
Taylor was also named as a Distinguished Scholar for achieving the highest score at Geneva School of Boerne.
According to the CLT website, each test features enriching, thoughtful reading passages drawn from classic literature and historical texts. Unlike other standardized tests that are solely achievement- based, CLT exams also assess aptitude and emphasize critical thinking skills.
The CLT is accepted by over 250 colleges and universities and is recognized as an accepted SAT/ ACT alternative to public universities in the state of Florida.
