AUGUST 3

PARKING LOT PARTY. The Bubble Tea Factory and other vendors are throwing a Parking Lot Party beginning at 9 a.m. at 1415 E. Blanco Road. Show up early for some special one-day only events. Surprises and specials happen the entire day.

BACK TO SCHOOL Bash by Studio 13 from 3-7 p.m. at the North 40, 41109 I-10 East. Enjoy a day filled with excitement; support your local vendors; discover a variety of amazing setups. Delicious food trucks serving up your favorite treats; back-to-school haircuts to get the kids ready for the new year; and school supply giveaways to ensure every student is prepared.

AUGUST 4

8TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY at Cibolo Creek Brewing Co., 448 S. Main St. from noon to 5 p.m. to celebrate eight years of business. Events include a hot wing contest, stein holding, Hammerschlagen and face painting. Hill Country Hot Peppers will have a booth onsite selling their tasty hot sauces. Cibolo will also have special beer releases and some tasty food specials.

AUGUST 6

THE GREATER BOERNE Chamber of Commerce will hold ribbon-cutting ceremonies: at 11:30 a.m. for Unison Studios Music Academy, 725 N. Main St. suite 2; at 1:30 p.m. for Gutter Shutter of San Antonio, in the chamber’s boardroom, 121 S. Main St; and at 3 p.m. for Hill Country Private Security, also in the chamber’s boardroom.

AUGUST 7

PURPLE HEART RECOGNITION: The Purple Heart Project honors area Purple Heart recipients in a ceremony from 10-11 a.m. at Veterans Plaza, 801 S. Main St. Event includes presentation of colors by the local VFW, the National Anthem, a performance by a St. Peter’s Group Choir, a presentation of the Purple Heart City proclamation by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and a beautiful Purple Heart custom flag to be presented to the mayor of Boerne.

AUGUST 8

BOERNE AREA DEMOCRATS will host guest speaker Dr. Hector Garcia, a researcher and clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of combat-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) during a noon meeting at the Longhorn Cafe, 369 S. Esser Road.

THE BOERNE CHAMBER will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1:30 p.m. for Pet Styling by Mimi, 1028 N. Main St.

AUGUST 10

HOPE FOR HEROES invites the public to an event for two first responder heroes and their families 9:30-11:30 a.m. at The Kendall Inn. Free breakfast tacos and coffee (while they last). Details: www.hopeforheroestx.org.

INSPIRATION GARDEN FALL Series opening session is 10-10:30 a.m. during the second and fourth weekends of the Farmers Market at Herff Farm, 33 Herff Road. The free mini workshops are led by organic gardening experts. This session will focus on gadgets and gizmos in the garden.

KENDALL COUNTY HISTORICAL Commission presents “Early Texas Botanists of the 19th Century” at 6 p.m. at the Patrick Heath Public Library, 451 N. Main St. Lonnie Childs, who serves on the Gillespie County Historical Society board of directors, will take attendees on a journey back to the days of the settlement of the Hill Country. AUGUST 16

ADULT NIGHT HIKE at Cibolo Nature Center beginning at 8 p.m. at the nature center, 140 City Park Road in Boerne. Come hike the trails at sunset. Night hikes for adults are longer hikes, using unfamiliar trails. You can expect to spend time without flashlights in hopes of viewing nocturnal wildlife. The cost is $15 per adult. DRUG FREE COMFORT presents a screening of the movie LIKE with the San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Awareness from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Lobby Coffee Shop, 523 Seventh St., Comfort. LINCOLN REAGAN DINNER, sponsored by the Kendall County Republican Party, presents “Cruz To Victory,” an evening with U.S. Sen.
