APRIL 27

OUTDOOR FAMILY FAIR by Boerne Parks and Recreation from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Main Plaza, 100 N. Main St. The fair connects families with community-focused services and organizations. Entertainment and fun for all ages.

BACKYARD PITMASTERS HOST RibsU from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tusculum Brewing Company, 236 S. Main St. The class, for greenhorns and experienced grillers alike, is designed to teach everything you need to know to cook award-winning ribs, from start to finish. Tickets are $139. WILD GAME DINNER: Join St. John Lutheran Church of Boerne at the Kendall County Youth Agriculture and Equestrian Center, 648 FM 289 in Comfort, for the annual wild game dinner. Doors open at 4 p.m. The event features delicious wild game fare, door prizes, silent and live auctions, kids’ games and more. STAR PARTY AT Boerne City Lake: Members of the San Antonio Astronomical Association will be on site beginning at 8 p.m. with multiple telescopes to point out stars, constellations, planets and more to this event hosted in conjunction with the city of Boerne.

FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY Party for Core Athletic Club as their way of saying thank you. Join them for their anniversary party from 2-6 p.m. at Core Athletic Club, 1580 River Road in Boerne. Several local businesses will join them; there will be free beer, wine and snow cones, a bounce house, and more.

FAREWELL PARTY FOR Dog & Pony: They may be closing but they’re going out with a fabulous party featuring a crawfish boil starting at noon and live music from 3-6 p.m. at their location, 1481 S. Main St. Bring the whole crew, grab a drink and toast to good times.

THE GREATER BOERNE Chamber of Commerce will hold ribbon-cutting ceremonies at the Chamber, 121 S. Main St.: at 11:30 a.m., for Space Makers Junk Removal; and at 1:30 p.m., for Horst Wasel Consulting.

MAY 1

RABIES VACCINATION AND Pet Licensing Clinic. Boerne Animal Care Services, 330 S Esser Road, is offering this one-day event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help dog and cat owners vaccinate and license their pets with the city of Boerne, per city ordinance. NATIONAL DAY OF Prayer: A gathering will be held at noon at the Boerne Main Plaza Gazebo, 100 N. Main St., to honor God during Boerne’s participation in this national event. BEST TASTING LEMONADE Contest: Think you have the best lemonade in town? Drop off a gallon of your best lemonade between 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Boerne Chamber of Commerce at 121 S. BOERNE HANDMADE MARKET is a two-day event featuring 75-plus handmade-only vendors, including jewelry, apparel, leather goods, toys, home décor and art, as well as handmade candles, food, drink and more. The market is being held at 1910 Church, 130 Sisterdale Road. Friday’s hours, 6:30-9:30 p.m., are for VIP ticket holders ($25) only. MOVIE IN THE PARK is “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.” Festivities start at 7 p.m. for the free event at Main Plaza.

ADULT NIGHT HIKE: Come to the Cibolo Nature Center, 140 City Park Road in Boerne, to hike the trails at sunset. This will be a longer hike, using unfamiliar trails and enjoying the darkness in order to appreciate nocturnal wildlife. The hike lasts from 8-9:30 p.m. and is $15 per adult. Mature teenagers and older are welcome. Registration is available at cibolo.org.

TEXAS MINI MILKERS Dairy Goat Show, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kendall County Youth Agriculture and Equestrian Center, 648 FM 289. The best little dairy goat show in Texas. Come out to learn all about dairy goats.

BOERNE HANDMADE MARKET: The second of the two-day event runs 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features 75-plus handmade-only vendors, including jewelry, apparel, leather goods, toys, home décor, handmade candles, food, drink and more. The market is being held at 1910 Church, 130 Sisterdale Road. General admission is $5 per person.

SHRED DAY HOSTED by Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper Realtors. From 10 a.m. until noon, if you have any unwanted documents, this is the perfect opportunity to safely and securely dispose of them: Old bills, personal papers, or sensitive files, etc. Bring them all to 1677 River Road in Boerne. No need to remove staples, paper clips, folders or fasteners — the shredders can handle it all.

SOURDOUGH WORKSHOP AT the Cibolo. Discuss the history of bread-making and learn the secrets behind sourdough’s unique tangy flavor, longer shelf life and exceptional nutritional profile. The workshop will be held at Herff Farm, 33 Herff Road, from 10 a.m. to noon; tickets are $60 each. Make your own loaf from a mother Yeast that has been used for over 100 years. BOERNE LEMONADE DAY is a community program hosted by The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce that teaches young people the entrepreneurial skills they need to start, own and operate their own business: a lemonade stand. Look around Boerne for any lemonade stands being operated by our young local entrepreneurs.

ANNUAL DERBY EXTRAVAGANZA: It’s time to put your best hat forward at Bending Branch Winery, 142 Lindner Branch Trail, for their 12th annual Derby Extravaganza from 2-6 p.m. There will be live music, food, wine, hats, horses and mint juleps. $60 for general admission. MOTORCYCLE RALLY AND Show: Join Salvador Dobbs, 512 River Road, for their first-ever Motorcycle Rally and Show from 3-6 p.m. It will be an afternoon of fun and biketalk, booths, best bike contests and more. Contact [email protected] to register.

BLACK RIFLE BLOCK Party: Join the team at Black Rifle Coffee Company and their neighbors on E. San Antonio Avenue for an old-fashioned block party. Enjoy live music, great food and drink, as well as a cool car show; all beginning at 6 p.m.

MAY THE 4TH Dinner: Join Richter Tavern, 153 S. Main St., for its third annual May the 4th dinner from 6:30-9 p.m. A four-course dinner paired with five whiskey cocktails or wine.
