SUGAR LAND — The Boerne Independent School District Communications and Community Partnerships Department, as well as the Administrative Services Department and the Boerne Education Foundation won 19 awards Feb. 28 from the Texas School Public Relations Association.
The awards were presented at last week’s 2024 TSPRA Conference, which ran Feb. 25-29 in Sugar Land.
The 19 awards include two Best of Category gold medals: Video news/information, “The Boerne Beat,” by Erik Armenta and Bryan Benway; and video training/ instructional, “Bus Safety Week-School Bus Tips,” by Erik Armenta.
BISD also earned a district record of 13 Gold Stars and four Silver Stars.
The communications department consists of: Benway, director of communications; Armenta, multimedia specialist; Melanie Bostic, communications secretary; with Yvette Reyna, executive director of the Boerne Education Foundation and Community Partnerships; and Jennifer Aviles, administrative assistant to Chief Administrative Officer Dr. John O’Hare.
Each year, TSPRA has an award competition amongst school district communication professionals and education foundation executive directors across the state. There are nearly 60 different categories, such as, print publications, writing, photography, video, events, etc.
