Geneva names Class of 2024 valedictorian, salutatorian

Geneva School of Boerne has named its 2024 valedictorian and salutatorian.

Will Muck, son of Andy and Kelly Muck, earned the distinction as Geneva’s 2024 valedictorian. Jake Plesko, son of David and Meredith Plesko, earned the distinction as Geneva’s 2024 salutatorian. They will deliver addresses at the Geneva commencement exercises in May.

Muck is a college board National Merit Commended Scholar, National Small Town and Rural Recognition Scholar and AP Scholar with distinction. He is vice president of the National Honor Society and served as chaplain his junior and senior years. He served on the Honor Council and Student Senate for all four years.

He is co-founder and co-captain of the award-winning Geneva science team. Will was captain of the varsity cross country team, receiving academic All-State honors. He participated in tennis and the track and field team all four years.

Muck has been a member of the TAPPS state champion Geneva Choir and earned state superior ratings for his voice solos in German and Italian and earned All-State honors for voice and piano. He started his own piano studio and is a member of Texas Future Music Educators.

He has been part of Geneva's high school musical productions since sixth grade and played the lead role as Scrooge in A Christmas Carol musical this year.

He has served as a member of the yearbook staff, photography team and debate team. He is ranked eighth in the state for TAPPS 4A calculator applications. His favorite role at Geneva is AIM Buddy to the grammar school students.

Outside of Geneva, Will is active in 4-H and has served as Texas State Photography ambassador, poultry club president and 4-H advisory council member. He has participated in annual livestock shows and won the champion dairy cow one year.

He is a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and serves as sound technician.

Muck has been accepted to Texas A&M University and Baylor University and is awaiting admissions and scholarship decisions from several out-of-state universities before he decides his plans for next year.

Jake Plesko

Plesko is a National Merit Small Town and Rural Recognition Scholar, an AP Scholar with honors from the college board and a recipient of academic All-State honors for TAPPS Div. 3 and THSCA.

He lettered in varsity football for four years, serving as a captain for junior and senior year and as a member of the football council for freshman and sophomore years. He was named First Team All-District and honorable mention All-State linebacker for TAPPS Div. 3 and was ranked fourth in the state for tackles in TAPPS by MaxPreps.

He was named first team All-State linebacker in the 2023-24 Padilla Poll. He has also been a member of the Geneva tennis, track and field team, band and AIM program.

Plesko was the junior class homecoming prince, a member of the National Honor Society his junior and senior year and was elected to be on the Honor Council his junior year.

Additionally, Plesko was a member of the Young Men’s Service League, volunteering for area charities.

Plesko has been accepted to the University of Texas at Austin in the college of Natural sciences to study biology and is awaiting admissions decisions from out-of-state universities before he decides his plan for next year.
