Comic Con, valentines on tap for library youth

THE BOOKWORM

CASSIDY KENNELL YOUTH LIBRARIAN

I hope you all have had a wonderful holiday season. We thoroughly enjoyed the fantastic fun and decorations over the holidays here in the youth department.

Over the holiday break, some of our successful holiday youth programs included an elf-on-the-shelf I Spy, Brunch with Mrs. and Mr. Claus, a Santa Letter drawing, and a Winter Reading Challenge. We want to give a big thank you to all those who participated in these delightful events and congratulations again to our drawing winners.

Now, to 2024. We are excited to get back to business as we kickstart programs for the new year.

Kids Comic Con

On January 27, don’t miss out on our exciting program, Kids Comic Con.

Children will not want to miss out on this exciting event packed full of fun, starting at 10:30 a.m. in the Community Room.

One of the highlights of the morning is sure to be the real-life Batman who will be attending. Parents, don’t forget to bring your camera to capture your child with the renowned hero.

There will also be a face-painting center set up where they can adorn themselves with playful and imaginative designs. Our fabulous face painting will be provided by artist Miss Gina of Gina-Maries’s Art Studio.

While many of our youth patrons love to read stories from our great selection of comics and graphic novels, at this event, kids will have the chance to make their own. Children will have the opportunity to capture their story ideas on our fun comic template and show them off to friends and family Finally, a snack will be provided for the children in the form of delicious Bear Moon Bakery Café cookies. Chomp into a delicious treat before discovering all we have to offer at this fantastic program. Hope to see everyone there!

Youth Department Valentines In February, stop by the youth department to participate in a sweet seasonal offer in honor of Valentine’s Day.

Starting February 5, we will set out our magic mailbox and some Valentine’s Day letter templates for the children. Kids can compose a sweet note to an elderly person that is sure to bring them a piece of happiness on Valentine’s Day.

It is always a joy to give to others, even if it is simply a few kind words. To participate in this thoughtful program, make sure to pick up one of our Valentine’s Day letter templates at the youth desk.

Once your child has finished writing their precious message, make sure to insert the letter into our mailbox at the youth desk. The last day to submit a letter will be February 14. We will then ensure that all letters are delivered to a member of Care Choice of Boerne.
