The Boerne ISD 2024-25 academic school year will run August 12, 2024, through May 22, 2025, according to the school calendar adopted by the district.
The calendar includes three full weeks of winter break (beginning Monday, December 23, 2024, through Friday, January 10, 2025) with a return in 2025 on January 13, the first day of the second semester.
The board of trustees adopted the calendar at its December 11 board meeting.
Boerne ISD released a survey in November that asked parents, staff, and students to choose between two different options for the 2024-2025 academic calendar.
School officials said the survey results showed more than 58% of the community preferred Calendar Option A, the plan selected by the school board.
Other breaks in the school year include: one week for Thanksgiving, November 25-29, and a week of Spring Break, March 10-14.
Other days off include Labor Day, Sept. 2; Columbus Day, Oct. 14; MLK Day/Inauguration Day, January 20, 2025; Presidents Day, February 17; and Good Friday, April 18.
An additional vacation day falls on Oct. 11, at the end of the first nine weeks. This is a Friday that coincides with Monday’s Columbus Day, providing a four-day “holiday weekend” for the district.
Teachers report August 1, 2024, and end the year May 23, 2025, one day after students.
The elementary school day begins at 7:35 a.m. with dismissal at 3 p.m. Secondary runs 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
