Fair Oaks Ranch has announced the appointment of Summer Fleming as the new director of finance.
Fleming, a native to the area and a Boerne High School graduate, joined the city administrative staff in 2017. She started with the city as an accountant before advancing into the role of accounting manager, where she gained extensive experience and insight into the city’s financial operations.
She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration in accounting from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, and furthered her expertise with a master’s degree in business administration.
City Manager Scott Huizenga said Fleming’s deep understanding of both private and public sector finance was honed through significant roles, includ ing as a senior accountant at iHeart Media, and lead accountant at Security General International, before joining the Fair Oaks Ranch staff.
Under her stewardship, Fair Oaks Ranch has consistently been recognized for its excellence in financial reporting.
“She has demonstrated outstanding skill and commitment in her previous roles, making her an excellent fit for this new position,” Huizenga said.
The City has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award each year since 2017 by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
Fleming’s contributions were instrumental in the city achieving the coveted Triple Crown status from GFOA, reflecting excellence across multiple categories of financial reporting.
Currently enrolled in the Certified Gove rnment Finance Officers Program, she is committed to continuous professional development and excellence.
“Her appointment as director of finance is a step forward for the city of Fair Oaks Ranch, ensuring continued fiscal responsibility and innovation in our financial management,” Huizenga said.
