• Art in Conservation: Watercolor Class, Herff Farm, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Join artist Rebecca Burritt in watercolor class where you learn to paint with the practice of the basic techniques; glazing, wet-in-wet, dry brush and more. • Book Presentation & Signing: Comanches, Captives and Germans, Herff Farm, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The authors use their expertise in Comanche culture, German immigration, art, and Hill Country history to explore the many layers of meaning in Friedrich’s drawings. Two of the book’s four authors, Professors Dan Gelo and Chris Wickham, will examine Friedrich’s interpretation of his spirited wilderness surroundings through the cultural lens of the era in an exclusive presentation.
• Moondance Concert, Cibolo Center for Conservation, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Pack a picnic and head over to the Cibolo Nature Center for some music and fun under the oak trees. The doors open at 7 p.m. and music will begin at 7:30 p.m. The featured band of the evening is the Aaron Tilt Band. $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Kids 10 and under are free. • Parents’ Night Out, Boerne Family YMCA, 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Need an evening out with the kids? Take this opportunity to get a well-deserved break. This incredible evening is filled with a variety of fun, games, crafts and activities and they won’t want the night to end. They will have pizza for the kids to round out a full evening of fun. • Summer Camp at the Cibolo!, Cibolo Nature Center, Hosted from July 17 to July 21. Join us for Quest at the Cibolo! Campers will explore the world of nature at Nature Camp, Art Camp, or Culinary Camp. All activities will be held at the Cibolo Nature Center and Herff Farm where kids will have a chance to explore our 160plus acres.
• Herff Farm Bird Survey, Herff Farm, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Volunteers will help identify and count bird species in the riparian, savannah and human structure habitats of Herff Farm and submit findings to eBird (on online database administered by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology). There will be several miles of walking on generally flat ground. All levels of birding experience are welcome. This is a good opportunity to practice and expand birding skills. • Ribbon Cutting at Precision Medspa Boerne, 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Join us for a ribbon cutting celebrating Precision Medspa Boerne. • Art Beyond the Crayons, Boerne YMCA, 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Art Beyond The Crayons is a mixed-media art class designed to allow children to work with a variety of mediums as well as give each child the opportunity to express themselves through art. $25 for members, $55 for non-members, and an additional supply fee.

• Art in Conservation: Drawing from Nature, Herff Farm, 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Observing the natural world with a pencil allows you to explore your environments, as you carefully follow the shapes, textures, and interplay of light and shadow. With the practice of basic skills; of sighting, proportion, value, line quality and detail, we learn to draw what we see through our interpretation. • Ribbon Cutting for Texas Homes, Bent Tree Dr. 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Join us for a ribbon cutting celebrating Texas Homes. Texas Homes is excited to announce the Final Phase Release for new homes in the Bent Tree neighborhood in Boerne. Join us for an open house where we will tour the model home and learn all about this great neighb orhood.

• Cibolo Summer Series – July Hikes, Cibolo Nature Center, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.These easy, investigative, and enriching walks will explore a different topic/niche that connects the Hill Country landscape. Walking the woodlands is one thing but knowing what is making that noise is another.
Join some of the local experts on how to “bird by ear” and silhouette identification. Learn more about the establishment of nesting boxes and all of the common residents of Texas Hill country. Binoculars included.

• Kendall County Nonprofit Monthly Lunch Bunch Meeting, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. A social forum for Non-Profit Boerne Chamber of Commerce members has been created. The purpose of our group is to make sure that every Kendall County nonprofit leader is aware of what is happening in the community, reduce any silos of information and to create peer mentorship/collaboration. • Movie in the Park: Christmas in July, Main Park Plaza, 7 p.m. Boerne Parks and Recreation hosts Movies in the Park during the spring and summer months. These free, family friendly screenings are a great time for everyone!
Bring your blankets, chairs, and snacks as you enjoy some free entertainment before the movie. Tonight’s movie theme is Christmas in July expect snow and a visit from Santa. They will be showing Gremlins.

• Active Movement, PHPL Community Room, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Join LaVada Smith as she guides you through the ancient meditative, easy movement practice of Qi gong, each Friday morning at 10 a.m. in the community room. Dress comfortably, no special equipment or mats needed. This program is part of their Silver Library Initiative.
