JOURDANTON - Three Boerne ISD teams were in action last weekend and all three played in Jourdanton.

Both the Charger and Greyhound baseball teams won their respective series and are advancing to the fifth round of the playoffs or the regional finals.

The Champion and BHS baseball teams will play at Wolff Stadium for their home games this week.

The Lady Greyhound softball team took on Calallen in the regional finals and came up short to the Wildcats.

SOFTBALL

The Lady Greyhound softball team took on Calallen in the regional finals in Jourdanton before a standing-room only crowd and lost to the Lady Wildcats, 8-1, to end their season one round shy of the 4A state tournament.

It’s the second time in three seasons that Boerne High has faced Calallen in this round and the Wildcats have been able to win both.

CHAMPION BASEBALL

After losing Game 1 to Ray in Corpus Christi on Thursday, 8-2, the Chargers bounced back to win the next two. Champion took Game 2 in San Antonio on Friday afternoon, 3-2, and then went and graduated later that evening.

Friday’s win forced a Game 3 Saturday in Jourdanton where the Chargers prevailed 6-2 to advance to the 5A regional finals against Leander Rouse.

Game 1 against Rouse is Thursday at Concordia University inAustin, 7 p.m. Game 2 is Friday at Wolff Stadium, 7 p.m., and a third game, if needed, will take place Saturday at Wolff, 2 p.m.

BHS BASEBALL

Later on Saturday, the Greyhounds took the field and won their series with Robstown.

The Greyhounds took Game 1 Friday night in Jourdanton over Robstown, 7-2, but the Cotton Pickers bounced back on Saturday in the 5 p.m. game to edge the Greyhounds, 2-1, in Game 2 with a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh.

That forced a third game and most Game 3s are about pitching and that was the case Saturday night in Robstown.

The Cotton Pickers went through four different pitchers and the Greyhounds ran through them all. BHS scored 8 runs in the third and went on to claim the series with a 12-1 win.

Boerne plays Sinton in the regional finals. Game 1 is Thursday at Wolff Stadium in San Antonio, 6 p.m.

Game 2 is Friday at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi at 4 p.m. and a third game, if needed, will follow.
