The Boerne High boys golf team wrapped up its season at the 4A state tournament held Monday and Tuesday with a fifth-place showing at the Legends Golf Course, while one of the Greyhounds earned an individual bronze medal.
Boerne’s Price Hill tied for third in the individual standings and toured the course in 70 and 71 shots for a two-day score of 141. Hill tied Jack Burgen of Andrews, who carded rounds of 74 and 67 for his 141. By finishing in the top 10, Hill concludes the season as an AllState golfer.
Wimberley’s Jaxon Donaldson won the event with a 136 (70,66) and Colin Price of Godley picked up silver with a 140 (73,67).
Hill’s score helped the Greyhounds to a two-day score of 620, just a few strokes away from a team medal. Canyon Randall won the event with a 603 (300,303), Andrews finished second with a 607 (308,299), Sulphur Springs came in third at 615 (303,312) and Wimberley was fourth with a score of 618 (309,309).
The Hounds were fifth in the field of 12 teams. BHS shot a collective 319 on the first day and then shaved 18 strokes off on the second day to record a 301 for a two-day score of 620.
Besides Hill’s 141 (70,71), Braden Baize shot a 154 with rounds of 80 and 74 to tie for 22nd, Jordan Smith recorded a 160 with rounds of 83 and 77 to tie for 39th, Cole Gentry scored a 165 after shooting 86 and 79 to tie for 52nd, while Jaxon Baize came in with a 169 with rounds of 87 and 82 to tie for 59th in the field of 72 golfers.
