Phoenix Guerra represented the Boerne Champion golf program at this year’s 5A state tournament in Georgetown on Monday and Tuesday.
Guerra ended the season by being named All-State after he finished in the top 10 at the state tourney that was held at the White Wing Golf Course.
The sophomore finished tied for seventh in the final standings after he toured the course with rounds of 76 and 70 for a two-day score of 146.
His 70 on the second day was two-under par and helped him move up three spots in the individual standings.
Thomas Curry of Texas High won the event with a 134 (66,68), Luke Colton of Frisco Wakeland came in second at 139 (69,70) and Jonathan Kim placed third with a 141 (74,67). The top four golfers all finished their two rounds under par.
Montgomery Lake Creek won the team title with a 595 (303,292), Smithson Valley was second at 601 (302,299) and Frisco Wakeland earned bronze with a 605 (303,302).
