The Lady Chargers girls golf team wrapped up its 2022-23 season earlier this week at the 5A state tournament held Monday and Tuesday at the White Wing Golf Club in Georgetown.
Champion ended its year by tying for fifth in the state after the Chargers shot a twoday score of 635 (321,314). They tied Alamo Heights Gold (315,320) for fifth, while Alamo Heights Blue won state with a 605 (302,303).
Montgomery came in second with a 617 (306,311), Montgomery Lake Creek finished third at 626 (307,319) and Frisco Centennial was fourth with a 632 (321,311).
For the Lady Chargers, Savannah Dupre finished tied for ninth individually after shooting consecutive rounds of 75 for a two-day score of 150. By finishing in the top 10, Dupre was named 5A All-State.
Also for Champion, Cate Johnson carded rounds of 79s for a 158 to tie for 28th, Caroline Franz posted rounds of 88 and 76 for a two-day score of 164 that tied her for 40th, Brooke Castillon shot backto- back rounds of 84 for a 168 that placed her tied for 46th and Camryn Leslie finished with rounds of 83 and 95 for a 178 that tied her for 56th.
The UIL boys golf season concludes this coming week on Monday and Tuesday and Boerne ISD will have two teams play at state after the Champion boys and Boerne High boys both qualified. The Chargers will play at the 5A tourney at White Wing and the Hounds will be at the 4A tourney at Legends Golf Course.
