The Geneva defense didn’t give up much to the Bay Area Christian baseball team in their best-of-three playoff series that took place earlier this week.

Geneva only allowed one run over two games and swept the Broncos to advance to the next round.

The Eagles improved to 27-3 and head to the regional round to play Austin Brentwood Christian.

Geneva hosted both games against the Broncos and took Game 1 on Monday, 6-1.

Bay Area Christian scored the first run of the game with a couple of walks and a single for the 1-0 edge but that would be their only run of the entire series.

Geneva fired back with 6 unanswered runs and took the lead in the bottom of the second by pushing in 3 runs with 5 singles and a hit batter. The Eagles scored another in the third to make it 4-1.

In the bottom of the fifth, Geneva picked up a pair of insurance runs to bump the lead to 6-1, which held until the end.

The Eagles finished with 11 hits, all singles. George Viña, Colton Lutz and Guy Bruner all had 2 hits each, while Chaz Lutz, Guy Kohler, Guy Roberson, Cannon Menn and Shawn George all hit 1 single.

Viña and Colton Lutz scored twice and Menn and Brady Chandler scored once. Colton Lutz pushed in 2 runs, while Guy George, Chaz Lutz, Shawn George and Bruner all picked up 1 RBI.

Jake Roberson picked up the win in six innings of work and gave up 3 hits, 1 run, 3 walks and fanned 6. Guy George threw in the seventh and yielded a hit and walk, no runs and sat down a batter.

Game 2 Geneva 5, BAC 0

The Eagles scored a run in the first inning and that would be the only offense they would need as pitcher Shawn George and the rest of the defense recorded a shutout.

George went the distance on the bump and gave up 4 hits, no runs, 1 walk and fanned 3. He helped his cause with a single in the fourth inning to bring in Cannon Menn and give Geneva a 2-0 lead. That held until the seventh when the first batter in the inning, Colton Lutz homered to make it 3-0. From there, the Eagles added 2 more runs for the 5-0 advantage.

Even though the game was in Boerne, the Broncos were the home team for Game 2 and had last bats but went down in order with a couple of pop ups and a ground out to end the game.

Geneva finished with 6 hits, including the homer by Lutz, a double and a single by Guy Kohler, along with singles from Guy George, Sam Armstrong and Shawn George.

Guy George scored twice, while Kohler, Menn and Lutz all crossed home plate once. Lutz picked up an RBI with his home run and Shawn George and Kohler both drove in runs as well.
