Geneva track and field athletes compete at regionals, head to state

The Geneva track and field program qualified three individuals for this year’s TAPPS 4A state meet scheduled for this weekend.

Isabella Godoy made it in three events after qualifying in the 400, 800 and 1600. The Davidson track commit won the 400 with a time of 1:00.18, took first in the 800 after running a 2:18.25 and finished third in the 1600 after clocking in at 5:46.

Also, Hayden Allen came in third in the 100 with a time of 11.52 to qualify for state, while Brady Chandler placed third in the pole vault to advance to state after he cleared 11-6. Allen also raced in the 200 where he finished fifth after clocking in at 23.55.

Also competing for the Eagles was Alex Doran who came in 7th in the 400 with a time of 1:06.38 and fifth in the 800 with a 2:30.36, while Grace Detterick finished seventh in the race after posting a 2:32.25.

In field events, Malyn Arnold threw the discus 75-11 for eighth and Griffin Miller was seventh in the boys discus with a toss of 110-7.

In the team standings, the Geneva girls were eighth with 35 points, while the boys were 12th with 18 points. The top eight finishers earn points in TAPPS track and field.
