The Boerne High softball team clashed with two opponents last Friday in their first-round played game that took place in Marion.
Boerne faced Gonzales but the Lady Greyhounds were also battling the weather that delayed the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with BHS leading 8-0.
Once it resumed, the Lady Hounds finished off the Lady Apaches, 12-0, in five innings.
Boerne improves to 25-9 and advances to the second round where they’ll play Columbia next.
The Lady Greyhounds scored in all five innings they played last Friday in Marion and knocked out 13 hits in the game, including a triple and five doubles.
Boerne scored 3 in the first, 2 in the second and third frames, added another in the fourth and closed it out with 4 runs in the fifth after the delay.
Ava Nieto scored a run, Taryn Madlock singled and doubled, scored twice and picked up an RBI, Taylor Wilson hit 2 doubles and a single, drove in a run and scored twice, Ava Rodriguez doubled and singled, had an RBI and scored 2 runs, Heidi Maytum picked up 2 RBI, Ava Renteria tripled and hit 2 singles and picked up 4 RBI, Ryleigh Hastings singled, walked twice and scored a run, Isa Renteria doubled, scored and drove in a run, Bre Krause singled, walked, pushed in a run and scored 2 runs, while Crissy Van Stavern scored once. Boerne only struck out twice in the game.
Rodriguez only needed 70 pitches to earn the win from the circle and only gave up 3 hits, all singles. The senior pitcher struck out 9 and walked just one.
