The Geneva School of Boerne baseball team secured this year’s district title with Monday’s 8-1 win over Schertz John Paul II.
The Eagles finish the regular season with a record of 25-3. They went 6-2 in district to claim this year’s TAPPS III – District 4 championship. Up next for the Eagles is the playoffs, be sure to check the Boerne Star for details.
Geneva was leading 1-0 in the first and then broke it open with 6 runs in the third frame for the 7-0 advantage.
JP II scratched for its only run of the game in the sixth to make it 7-1 but the Eagles responded in the bottom half of the inning and the score was 8-1. JP II didn’t score in the top of the seventh and Geneva didn’t bat in the bottom of the inning since they had the lead.
The Eagles finished with 8 hits in the game, all singles. Guy George hit 2 singles and scored 2 runs, Chaz Lutz took 2 walks and scored twice, Guy Kohler singled, drove in a run and took a walk, Grant Roberson singled and had an RBI, Cannon Menn blasted 2 singles, picked up an RBI and scored a run, George Viña singled, scored and collected an RBI, Shawn George drove in 2 runs and Gray Bruner finished with a hit and 2 RBI.
Shawn George earned the win from the mound and only gave up a hit, no runs, 3 walks and struck out 6 in five innings of work. Viña and Guy George also threw in the game. Viña yielded a hit, walk and a run and also fanned 1, while Guy George didn’t allow a hit or run against 1 walk and 3 Ks.
