Chargers sending 3 to state tennis tourney

The Champion tennis program is sending three players to the 5A state tennis tournament to be held in San Antonio on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 25-26, at Northside Tennis Center. 

Avi Gallegos qualified by winning the regional championship in girls singles after defeating India Young from Liberty Hill in the finals 7-5,6-1 at the 5A regional tournament in Corpus Christi. This is Avi’s first appearance at the state tournament. 

Also, the girls doubles team of Amber Lewis and Sophia Raimondo cruised through the girls doubles bracket by defeating Flour Bluff in the finals 6-1,6-4. This is Amber’s third consecutive trip to the state tournament and it will be Sophia’s second trip to the state tournament. Sophia earned a bronze medal in mixed doubles last year.

Also qualifying for regionals was Braxton Fleck and Addison Day. They were knocked out in the first round at regionals and fell to the No. 3 seed in mixed doubles.
