The Boerne High baseball team bounced back from last week’s shutout loss at Canyon Lake (7-0) to defeat the Hawks Friday at home, 8-1.
BHS improved to 23-2 overall and is 10-1 in district. The Hounds started a series with Davenport this week, Tuesday at Davenport and Friday at home.
After scoring a run in the second, the Greyhounds had a big inning in the third frame and pushed in 4 runs for half of its runs in the game and the 5-0 lead.
Doubles from Hudson McNew and Brooks Perez, a single by Jace Preston, a hit batter, an error, a walk and a sac fly by Walker Hill helped Boerne tally its 4 runs in the inning.
The Hounds added a single run in the fourth and 2 more in the fifth to pull ahead 8-0. The Hawks loaded the bases in the sixth with only one out but the Boerne defense held them to a single run to make it 8-1, which is where it ended.
BHS knocked out a dozen hits and were led by Brooks Perez who hit 2 doubles and a single, scored a run and picked up 2 RBI, while Jace Preston doubled and singled, drove in a run and scored, Hudson McNew doubled and singled and scored twice and Xander Cloudy doubled and singled, scored 2 runs and had an RBI.
Dylan Perez singled and walked, Riley Pechacek singled, Hutson Hendrix singled and pushed in a run, Cale Blalock walked twice and scored 2 runs and Walker Hill collected an RBI.
Landon Lestourgeon went the distance and pitched all 7 innings. He gave up 5 hits, 1 run, struck out 9 and walked 2 on 99 pitches to earn the win from the mound..
