The Geneva School of Boerne baseball team bounced back from only its second loss of the season to defeat Holy Cross on Friday.
After a close loss to Corpus Christi Incarnate Word on Tuesday, 5-4, the Eagles took it out on the Knights Friday at home, 21-1.
Geneva improves to 18-2 overall and hosted FEAST on Tuesday.
Despite the score on Friday, the Eagles were only leading 2-1 as the game went into the bottom of the third but that’s when it started to get away from the Knights.
Geneva scored 7 runs in the inning and held a 9-1 lead. From there, the Eagles blew it open with 12 runs in the fourth frame after they sent 17 batters to the plate.
After the Knights didn’t score in the top of the fifth, the mercy rule kicked in.
The Eagles knocked out 13 hits, including a triple from Guy Kohler who also hit 2 singles, scored 3 runs and picked up 3 RBI.
Grant Roberson doubled and singled, Guy George doubled and singled, scored twice and pushed in 3 runs, George Viña plated 2 runs, Cannon Menn hit 2 singles, scored 3 runs and collected 3 RBI, third baseman Lutz had 2 hits, scored twice and drove in a run, the other Lutz singled, scored 3 runs and picked up 3 RBI, while SamArmstrong singled, had an RBI and plated 3 runs.
Shawn George went all 5 innings on the hill and scattered 3 hits, no earned runs, walked twice and fanned 8.
Vs. CC Incarnate Word
Geneva came up on the short end of the scoreboard for only the second time this season after the Eagles suffered a 5-3 setback to Corpus Christi Incarnate Word on Tuesday.
Geneva slips to 17-2 overall and hosted Holy Cross on Friday before welcoming FEAST on Tuesday.
The game with Incarnate Word in Corpus Christi was close throughout and the Eagles were trailing 2-0 after three but scored a single run in the fourth and added 2 more in the top of the fifth for the 3-2 lead.
It didn’t hold for long after the Angels answered with 2 in the bottom of the fifth to take a 4-3 lead and then scored one in the bottom of the sixth to make it 5-3 and then hold on from there.
Geneva finished with 6 hits in the game, with Cannon Menn knocking out 3 singles, while Guy George, Guy Kohler and Sam Armstrong also hit singles.
Kohler, Menn andArmstrong all collected 1 RBI apiece, while George, Kohler and Menn scored single runs for the Eagles.
Jake Roberson scattered 4 hits, only gave up 1 earned run, walked 1 and struck out 9 in five innings of work. George tossed an inning and yielded a run, while striking out a batter.
