Boerne High made short work of the Canyon Lake softball team Friday night on the road.
The Lady Hounds defeated the Lady Hawks 13-0 in five innings of work behind 13 hits.
BHS improves to 18-8 overall and 3-0 in district. The Lady Hounds hosted Fredericksburg on Tuesday and then plays at Wimberley on Friday to close out the first round of district.
Boerne took the early lead in the game with 3 runs in the first and then scored another run in the second for the 4-0 advantage. It stayed that way until the fourth when the Lady Hounds blew it open with 9 runs after they sent 14 batters to the plate.
BHS used 7 singles, 6 that drove in runs, 2 hit batters and 2 walks to do its damage.
Ava Nieto doubled, hit 2 singles, drove in a run and scored 4 times, Ava Renteria doubled and singled, Taryn Madlock singled, walked twice, collected 2 RBI and scored 2 runs, Taylor Wilson singled, took 3 walks, scored twice, Ava Rodriguez hit 2 singles and pushed in 3 runs, Heidi Maytum singled, scored and picked up an RBI, Jess Aguirre singled, scored and picked up 2 RBI, Maddie Vasquez singled and scored, Bre Krause had an RBI and scored a run, while Riley Martin singled, scored and collected an RBI.
Rodriguez thew all 5 innings in the game and only needed 82 pitches to earn the win. She scattered 2 hits, gave up no runs, struck out 13 and walked just 1 batter.
